Life Is Heavy & Your Home Doesn’t Have to Be
Life is a lot.
And if I’m being honest, most days it feels really heavy.
I’m a mom of four little ones, each with their own needs, wants, emotions, schedules, activities, snacks (so many snacks), and opinions. On top of that, I’m running a business, managing a household, trying to take care of myself, and attempting to stay present through it all. Some days I feel like I’m juggling a hundred invisible balls and hoping none of them hit the floor.
When life feels this full, your home can either support you… or quietly add to the weight.
I learned this the hard way.
There have been seasons where the clutter piled up faster than I could keep up with it. Toys everywhere. Laundry baskets multiplying. Counters that never stayed clear. And while none of it seemed “that bad” on its own, together it created this constant background noise in my brain. I felt overstimulated, short-tempered, and overwhelmed before the day even really started.
That’s when I realized something important:
I can’t control everything in my life but I can control my space.
Small Resets Make a Big Difference
I’m not talking about perfection. Or Pinterest worthy homes. Or spending an entire weekend purging your life.
I’m talking about simple resets.
Clearing a counter.
Putting toys into bins instead of piles.
Resetting the living room before bed.
Walking into the kitchen in the morning without yesterday staring back at you.
Those small changes add up. They create breathing room. They give your nervous system a break. They make it easier to show up as a calmer mom, a more focused business owner, and a more grounded version of yourself.
Declutter, Donate, or Rotate
One of the biggest game changers for me has been realizing that not everything needs to live out all the time.
Especially with kids.
Sometimes decluttering means donating what no longer serves your family. Sometimes it means packing things away and rotating them back out later. Fewer toys out at once actually leads to more play, less mess, and way less chaos.
The same goes for clothes, seasonal items, and those “I might need this someday” piles. If it’s not serving you right now, it’s okay to let it go or let it rest somewhere else for a while.
Your Home Should Support Your Life
Your home should feel like a place that helps you exhale not another thing demanding your energy.
When life is heavy (and it often is), having a home that feels calmer, lighter, and more manageable can make an incredible difference. It doesn’t fix everything, but it does make the day-to-day easier.
And you deserve that.
If you’re in a season where everything feels like a lot, start small. One drawer. One room. One reset. You don’t need a full overhaul to feel relief — sometimes you just need a little backup.
Life is heavy.
